Sports afternoon at Paul Mistral park
Spring has arrived but is, unfortunately, limited to a perimeter of 10 km … Let’s see the bright side, this is an opportunity to rediscover places around us.
Do you know Paul Mistral park? We take you there to discover its little secrets.
“PPM”, in the language of Grenoble, is one of the largest green spaces in the city. It was born following the organization of the 1925 International Exhibition of White Coal and Tourism, at the initiative of Mayor Paul Mistral. The only vestige is the Perret tower, the tallest reinforced concrete construction in Europe at that time (around 100m). It was an observation tower that could be climbed by elevator in less than a minute.
During the 1968 Winter Olympics, the park was redesigned by landscape designer Ingrid Bourne as an alpine garden with plenty of sports facilities. There were, for example, the ice stadium, which is the former “Palais des Sports” (2010), and the speed ring, still in place for running and rollerblading lovers. Nowadays, you can do all kinds of sporting activities in the park: slackline, volleyball, fitness on the apparatus or even yoga. There is something for every taste ! Do not hesitate to go to the park alone, it is very easy to approach a group and join in the game ! Finally, a large number of events such as outdoor concerts are also organized by the City.
