Afternoon at Fort de la Bastille
The fort of the Bastille is the essential place of the city of Grenoble. It allows you to get away from it all and to have a breathtaking view of our beautiful city. It’s also a great way to discover Grenoble, especially for the start of the school year when you’ve just put your bags there.
To get there, you will surely take the Grenoble “bubbles”, the city’s emblem par excellence. In addition, to take this cable car you will have to go to the quays of Grenoble just next to the “Jardin de ville” and let yourself be carried over 266 meters of vertical drop above the Isère. The return ticket costs less than 9€ per person. For the more athletic, the Bastille is also accessible by foot.
When you arrive at Fort de la Bastille, you will discover the fort as well as a breathtaking panorama. Originally built in the 19th century to defend the city of Grenoble from enemies coming from “la Chartreuse”, it is now one of Grenoble’s most touristic sites.
In addition, there are many activities to find in this place, such as visiting a museum or a contemporary art center, the possibility of doing sports such as acrosport, via ferrata, hiking or running, or you can also go to the restaurant, the Pèr’Gras or the O2 restaurant.
Finally, we recommend an idea of a program for your afternoon at the Bastille, starting by taking the Grenoble bubbles on the quays, then, when you arrive at the fort de la Bastille, admire the panoramic view, and walk around the fort for a while. After that, we suggest you go eat at the Per ’Gras restaurant, which is the best in Grenoble. And finally, walk down the paths provided until you return to the quays, on the banks of the Isère.
Do not wait any longer !
